Change is necessary. Life ceases to exist without change. At this point in our existence, change may appear to be constant. We must constantly shift to allow it to occur.
The Spirit is infinite. The finite body, however, is physically limited in space. We must clear out what is no longer useful to make room for the new.
This is not to say that what is no longer useful is not good. It is simply in the way of moving along on our chosen path, much like treasured books filling up a bookcase or a library stop us from acquiring more because there is no room, until some are given away, recycled.
What are we clearing out? Energy. Everything is energy manifesting as matter in various forms. Thoughts are energy. Emotions are energy. Matter is energy in another form.
Some energy is easy to let go. We think of some thing or have a reaction. We acknowledge it and release it with gratitude for the experience.
Other energy is not so easy to release. We may mull over some experiences, savor or anguish about them/ We may have more attachment to some. These must be intentionally released, often with physical actions. This can be done with ceremony or with a set of repeated actions with the intent of letting go.
One such action is The Push.1 This is performed to gather up and release all non-useful energy around us, to replace disorganized chaos with organized chaos. It is a series of actions which collect the energy into a ball and push it off planet.
Another is the tobacco ceremony in which thoughts and emotions are placed into tobacco which is either burnt, placed into flowing water or offered to the Earth.2
Another method of releasing excess energy, such as electricity, is to place one’s hands on either side of a wooden door jamb, intentionally releasing all excess energy being carried into the wood. This can also be done with a heavy widen table or a mature tree. [Not a sapling which may be overwhelmed.]
Change Our Self
We may find that significantly modifying the way we think and act may greatly improve our ability to function in this new world we are creating. Changing and/or eliminating our expectations may prove helpful. Turning off auto -pilot may provide interesting and beneficial experiences. Delaying in forming conclusions tells the mind there may be other possibilities.
Consciously setting goals/ideals while regularly reviewing them enables us to better navigate the stream/river/ocean we are traveling.
Choosing to modify the vocabulary we use may be neutral. We may notice that using words in more positive ways and expressions to be very beneficial. Stating our thoughts as positively as we can will change our thinking. This affects our own energy levels as well as those with whom we are conversing.
If we are saddened by a sense of loss that may accompany changes, allow self to mourn. Thank whatever is no longer here for its service and gently let it go.
