We are energy. Our bodies, as our expression in matter, are compressed energy. To exist as matter, we regularly replenish our energy, our light.
The physical vessel requires physical energy. This is provided in a variety of forms. Most common are plant substances we know as fruits, vegetables, grains, fungi, etc. We derive energy also from animal substances such as cheese, cream, eggs, meat, fish, etc. We can acquire all of this by either growing/raising it ourselves or by trading/sharing with others.
All people expend energy. It may be to acquire something to eat, to build a structure to provide shelter, to make a tool. The product of this effort can be exchanged with another person for a different object, or exchanged for currency, money with an agreed upon value
We can also produce, with our own energy. all the things we wish to use for our daily comfort. We can make clothes, homes, furniture, tools, works of art, utensils, jewelry, vehicles, power, etc.
We live in a society, however, which has evolved into commodifying everything and using things ready made. We therefore "purchase" most of what we use, producing very few objects with our own energy. We instead focus on "making" money or "earning a living."
We "make" money by either working for self or by being employed by others. When we work for self, we choose our own workplace, set our own hours, choose how and what services or products we will provide and for what compensation. All factors are influenced by the community in which we operate.
When we are employed by others we have much less leeway in choosing conditions.
Working for self has greater risks as well as possibilities of greater rewards, monetarily and otherwise. Being self employed offers greater opportunities for freedom and responsibilities, for growth in all ways.
One may work for self alone or with others. Working with others may be as partners, as a team, or as employer/employee. Partners and teams generally have an agreed upon formula for sharing gains/losses and responsibilities. Employer/employee groups also have agreements on the compensation and responsibilities of each person, which may include lack of same.
Working as part of a business not only offers opportunities to live more comfortably, it also provides means of experiencing and growth, both personally and communically, with a lesser risk as compared with being self employed. The regular use of imagination, for instance, greatly expands one's ability and creativity. The scope of our work is limited only by our willingness to take risks and our desire to explore opportunities.
Intuition plays a major role in our work environment. It is not only a useful tool in decision making, it may prompt us to look into new areas of production and discovery. It may also help us sidestep pitfalls and to notice new opportunities. It can help us select the best path to achieving our goals.
Many choose to make money in ways which produce items useful to others. Some, however, choose to make money in ways useful only to self, taking the energy of others rather than sharing. And some use money to the detriment of self and others, violating people's rights and to enslave. Certain "markets" are developed solely for profit. We identify these as "cons, swindles," etc. Intuition is very useful in recognizing and avoiding these schemes.
Making money is all about using energy. There are those who simply attract money by their energy and their joy in doing what they are here to do. How much money we have depends on how we view it, especially emotionally.
This writer's husband attracted money as a child. He never refused to help another and people offered him money in return which he accepted with gratitude. One day his mother discovered a jar filled with money under his bed. She asked him if he had any other jars. He showed her the ones in his closet. She counted his money. He had more in his jars than his Pop earned in a year. He had not yet learned to count as he had severe dyslexia. Once he was made aware of the value of the jars' contents, he gave his parents a large portion of it, keeping some to continue paying for his clothes, his school supplies, movies, dues and lunch money.
The object of making money is not its accumulation but to spend it for the reasons it was earned. Money is a tool designed to help us live as our best selves. When it becomes a primary focus it is not so good.
It is of interest that two of the world's wealthiest men currently spend their days working to release people from the fiscal shenanigans of others. Ultimately, we must free ourselves. Doing so honors the efforts of those who walk the path to show us the way. And it honors the one who came, 2,000 years before us in time, to show us that embracing our birthright, the love of the Creator, is a most desirable way to live.
Our choice.
