The Sum of All Choices

.
Suppose there is a town with 1000 adult residents. The townspeople hold elections every 2 years.

This year, there are 3 people running for mayor. 400 people show up to vote. 180 [45%] vote for candidate J. 150 [37.5%] vote for candidate P. 60 [15%] vote for candidate K. 10 abstain for mayor. Candidate J is declared the elected mayor with 45% of the votes cast.

Majority rules? Which majority ? The majority of ones who hold an opinion? The majority of ones who came to vote? No. The majority of those eligible to vote? Hardly.

Is this a good way to select a leader? How can we say the majority rules?

What if it is by intention?

Prior to voting day, the candidates spoke to townspeople at well attended gatherings held all over town. People discussed their choices at the grocery store, after church, at lunch time, etc. Over 80% of the people had a firm commitment to a candidate.

On voting day, there was a blizzard with heavy drifting. Only 400 people made it to the voting places. However, these people cast their votes in a manner reflective of the collective decision of the whole town. The townspeople themselves had not formed a true majority, i.e., selected a candidate with more than 50% of the support of the people. However, 80% had chosen a candidate and a plurality for that candidate was the result. The election results actually reflected the wishes of the town.

      How?

We humans are forming a collective consciousness, using our natural means of communication which is telepathy, even though many are not consciously aware. When our choices are then expressed in an open and free way, the choice expressed is accurate. Even a natural disaster does not interfere with the people's choice. Maybe the storm occurred to facilitate the people's choice.

The election in this example follows the rule: nothing happens to us without our consent. When those who would control the actions of others succeed, it is because they are permitted to do so by the choosing of the majority. When the would be controllers are stopped short, it is by majority rule.

If the ones elected to represent us in legislative bodies are not doing what we wish, it is because not enough of us are choosing the path we prefer. It is up to us to collaborate with each other and find a common path acceptable to the majority. We must agree to work together before we will see the choosing of a common path beneficial to all. The choosing of the ideal of benefiting all can save much time and effort in this process. Choosing the ideal1 sets the direction we wish to follow. In so doing, we may find it very easy to recognize the steps which lead to the fulfillment of our chosen goals.

Discussion allows us to consciously see what others wish. In expanding our own view, we can include the desires of others and create a path which satisfies all.

The ancient way of decision making among the M'hiacanuk is by consensus.2 M'hiacanuk have 4 councils: the Children: the Women; the Young Men and the Elders. The Children are usually the first to reach consensus. Once each council reaches consensus, all come together to form a village consensus. Once the village agrees, the village leader, the Peace Sagamore,3 pronounces it as law. All follow the agreement because all participated in fashioning it.

The most significant change occurring with Earth now is the ever increasing levels of energy available to those who live with her. Increasing energy enables humans to know and comprehend more easily. We can use this to benefit self only or use it for the good of ourselves and others.

We can imagine what we wish to see in our life and make it happen. The first step is to decide what we wish. The next step is to imagine that it is. Next, we eliminate any doubts and fears which may block us if we entertain them. As long as what we desire is beneficial to ourselves and others, there is no reason for us to block ourselves. If we wish only what is beneficial, only beneficial events will occur as a result of our wishes.

      Our choice.
